‘Some People Walk in the Rain, Others Just Get Wet’

It’s an odd way to spend a Saturday night, walking 10 miles around the streets of Ipswich, a large part of it getting soaked in torrential rain. It is not an activity that we take on too often.

It had to be something special that would persuade us to dress like neon loons and start walking at 10 in the evening. The motivation came from this year’s Midnight Walk to raise money for Ipswich based, St. Elizabeth’s Hospice. On its own this would be a good enough cause to get drenched for because they offer amazing care to patients and their families at a difficult time. And they need donations to carry that work on.

We had a bit more reason to get involved though. Our colleague Martin recently spent time at St Elizabeth’s before he passed away, it’s his wife Bernie in the picture with us. The least we could do in the circumstances then was put on a pair of trainers and, walk some miles for Martin.

That’s why we walked in the rain, thinking of him and what he meant to us. It goes a bit further than us though. We want to say a very big thanks to all our family, friends, colleagues and partners in the business community who sponsored us and who’s generosity will help to make a difference for St. Elizabeth’s. Without you we really would’ve just been getting wet. We are absolutely full of complete gratitude to you all as we raised a total of £4,021.11, Martin would be very proud.
