Morgan Sindall secured a project for Lexden Springs SEND School in Colchester which was an £18.8 million overhaul and included relocating the school to a new site. The new school will almost double the number of pupils it can support by offering an additional 80 places, bringing the total places available up to 200. The finished project will also create 30 boarding places for pupils, as well as extensive car parking and landscaping works.
We were very pleased to have won the tender for the installation of three apex wall mounted canopies with end panels, four mono-pitch wall mounted canopies, a timber cycle shelter and a waterproof tensile fabric canopy. Our part of the project is an exciting yet big job that started on the 3rd of June and is expected to be completed at the end of July.
The canopies will provide the pupils and staff with a covered area outside their classrooms where they can take learning outside to give the pupils some fresh air and breathing space. The cycle shelter that can be used by either the staff or pupils to promote cycling to school which as we know is good for our health.
We’ve shared some progress photos of the installation so far however, keep an eye out for the next issue of OCZ to see the completed project which is expected to be completed by the end of July.
