The Increasing Demand for Alfresco Dining

The Increasing Demand for Alfresco Dining

How Architects and Contractors can help their clients make the right choices
when it comes to cover from the weather

In recent years, alfresco dining has become extremely popular with UK residents opting for an outdoor lifestyle, particularly in the warmer months. This has seen an increase is demand for restaurants, pubs, café’s, hotels and holidays parks to provide outdoor spaces where their visitors can relax and enjoy spending time outside with family and friends.

It’s a familiar picture; on a hot summers’ day, beer gardens and restaurant gardens are always full. The British public are well known the making the most of the sunshine.

In addition, with the social distancing requirements that have been introduced since the COVID-19 pandemic arrived here in the UK, the demand for alfresco dining is set to increase dramatically as restaurants and pubs are given the go ahead to once again open their doors to the public.

These demands come not only from business owners as they endeavour to make the most of their unused spaces, to ensure the social distancing measures are in place whilst still serving enough customers to ensure their business is still in profit. It also comes from the general public because it has been deemed safer to reside outside than it is indoors so, the idea of dining outdoors is much more attractive than dining indoors as it feels safer.

Whilst the temporary, collapsible umbrellas seem ideal for pubs and restaurants, they need replacing often, cannot be used in moderate or high winds and are often not waterproof. Encouraging clients to opt for commercial canopies such as our permanent umbrellas and free standing canopies, will result in a structure that will last for many years to come (the majority of our canopies are supplied with 25 year life expectancies) and will result in a high-end finish to the exterior of their establishment. This can only increase popularity, with the public choosing to visit their premises over their competitors.

A Long-Term Investment
When it comes to running a business, it’s always important to look ahead to ensure the coming months and years will continue to prosper as times goes on. A permanent canopy will enable your clients to grow their business.

Once the social distancing measures have been removed and COVID-19 is a thing of the past, their permanent canopy will permanently increase the seating capacity at their restaurant all year round, as they are waterproof and protect from both the sun and rain. Increasing space, increases profits, so when your clients are looking to add cover to their outside area, a permanent restaurant canopy may not seem like the most cost effective option initially however, if they plan to keep their business going through the pandemic and grow their business, it most certainly is the most cost effective option.
