Playful Rescue Pooches Enjoy Exercise Outside in All Weather Conditions
Huncote based charity Leicester Animal Aid has provided their rescue dogs with a covered outdoor area by investing in a p’awsome canopy, so the dogs can access the outdoors all year round.
The dog kennels feature hatches to provide them with free-flow access to the outdoors, but because the kennels are south facing, they receive direct heat all day from the sun. The charity has therefore invested in a canopy to provide shade and shelter to the dogs when enjoying time outside.
Helen Wilber, the Fundraising Manager explains “We needed a shelter to give our dogs much-needed shade in the summer and some extra shelter in the winter.”
The canopy which was supplied and installed by Able Canopies Ltd. features HeatGuard™ polycarbonate roof panels which can reduce solar heat transmission by over 50%, keeping the area underneath much cooler for the dogs during in the stifling hot summer months.
The dogs can also stretch their legs while it’s raining without getting wet, providing them with the best possible experience at the rescue centre before they find their forever homes.
Alex Stevenson, the Kennel and Cattery Manager added: “The shelter is looking fab, and some of the dogs have already seen the benefit with the recent rain we’ve had.”
Leicester Animal Aid is a rescue and rehoming centre for cats and dogs. Every year, they care for around 400 animals who are lost, abandoned, neglected, unwanted, or relinquished because their owners can no longer look after them. More information is available at leicesteranimalaid.org.uk
