In September 2024, we supplied and installed an 18.2 m x 2.458 m Grange Junior Freestanding Canopy at Carew Academy in Wallington, Surrey.
When Carew Academy began developing its new purpose-built school, the team approached Kier Construction to explore ways to maximise outdoor learning and recreation throughout the year. The objective was to create sheltered areas outside two classrooms, enabling pupils and staff to benefit from outdoor education in all weather conditions.
Kier Construction contacted Able Canopies to design and deliver a suitable solution. Following a detailed consultation, we recommended the installation of a Grange Junior Freestanding Canopy for one classroom. This robust, steel-framed system provides dependable all-weather protection, creating a versatile and sheltered space ideal for lessons, group activities and social interaction.
For the school, we installed two Coniston Freestanding Canopies, offering a contemporary mono-pitch design with a durable steel frame and high-quality roofing system. This installation delivers generous coverage and a bright, practical outdoor area that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
