Brief
In August 2025, we were approached through a tender process to provide a canopy solution for the refurbishment works at the Epsom Alliance MRI Unit. During the renovation, the external entrance lobby had its doors temporarily removed, leaving the area fully exposed to the weather.
Apollo Build Ltd, acting on behalf of the hospital unit, required a durable and professional-looking canopy to ensure patients, visitors, and staff had a sheltered waiting area outside the hospital’s main entrances. The aim was to maintain comfort, safety, and a welcoming appearance throughout the refurbishment period and beyond.
Proposal
Following a full assessment of the site and the architectural drawings, we recommended a bespoke Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy. This design offered the ideal balance of practicality and aesthetics, providing robust weather protection while complementing the building’s brick façade.
To maximise coverage, we included side-fill panels and two small front fills. Manufactured from 5mm solid polycarbonate, these panels allow up to 91% light transmission while blocking 98% of harmful UV rays. This ensured the area remained bright, safe, and sheltered throughout the year.
The Coniston’s slimline aluminium design and compact structure, allows the canopy to provide robust weather protection while blending seamlessly with the hospital’s exterior, ensuring the entrance remained both functional and visually unobtrusive.
On 27th August 2025, we received formal confirmation from our client to proceed.
Installation
In October 2025, our installation team supplied and installed the bespoke Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy at the Epsom MRI Unit in Surrey. The additional side-fill panels provided enhanced shielding from wind and rain, creating a fully functional and reliable sheltered space for those entering or leaving the building.
The canopy now delivers dependable, year-round protection, ensuring that staff and patients remain comfortable regardless of the weather. Its modern, minimalist appearance integrates effortlessly with the hospital surroundings, offering a practical and cost-effective upgrade that supports the unit’s ongoing refurbishment.
The hospital was extremely pleased with the complete installation and the improvement it made to the entrance area.
