Kings Park Academy – Coniston Walkway Canopy

In August 2026, we supplied and installed a large Coniston Walkway Canopy at Kings Park Academy in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Working alongside Authentic Education, Able Canopies helped Kings Park Academy transform the outdoor area alongside three of its reception classrooms. The academy wanted to replace two existing cantilever umbrellas (not installed by Able Canopies,) with a larger, permanent canopy that would provide significantly more coverage and create a practical all-weather space for outdoor learning, while also providing shelter for parents and pupils during drop-off and collection times.

To meet the requirements of the site, our team recommended the Coniston Walkway Canopy System, a popular choice for schools thanks to its durable aluminium construction, versatile design and reliable year-round weather protection.

The installation comprises three connected sections measuring 10m x 3m, 25m x 6m and 4.6m x 3.5m, creating one continuous canopy with varying projections designed to follow the existing fence line. Covering approximately 202m², the completed canopy has created a substantial sheltered outdoor learning area while also providing shade outside the classrooms, helping to reduce solar heat gain during warmer weather. The result is a versatile space that supports outdoor learning throughout the year while keeping pupils, staff and waiting parents sheltered from both sun and rain.
