Outdoor Classroom Day – May 18

outdoor_classroom_day_logoThis important day in the school calendar has grown in size and scale since it was set up in 2011. It is now a globally recognised event with many hundreds of schools taking part across the world.

The day celebrates the opportunities that can be given to children through learning and playing outdoors and how powerful those experiences can be. Being outdoors stimulates imaginations, inspires creativity and encourages social interaction and team working.

There are numerous options to give a new dimension to teaching and learning by taking the lesson outdoors. For example:

  • Art projects using landscape scenes or natural materials
  • Science – looking at plant growth, the effects of pollution or a study of habitats
  • Maths – calculating heights, areas or percentages
  • Going on a number or nature hunt to find items on a given list
  • Studying the local area to find out more about its geography or recycling for example
  • Weather – build your own weather station

As canopy experts, Able Canopies offer affordable and stylish options to help you enjoy the outdoors with protection from the worst of the weather or the effects of the sun.

Mazehill (1)Our range includes several sun protection options including tensile fabric structures, shade sails, awnings and solar canopies. Find out more here: www.ablecanopies.co.uk/our-products.html
