Overdale School – Coniston Freestanding Canopy

In September 2023, we supplied and installed a 14.641m x 4m Coniston Freestanding Canopy that is attached to a 7.375m x 2.55m Coniston Freestanding Canopy at Overdale School in Stockport, Cheshire.

Overdale School was in discussions with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council to create a sheltered outdoor area at the front of the school. They envisioned a space where students could play and learn outside, protected from the elements, and where staff could hold outdoor lessons, which are highly beneficial for children. Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council contacted Portakabin, the agents working on the school, who then reached out to us for a solution.

We recommended installing a large Coniston Freestanding Canopy. This canopy is perfect for covering extensive areas, including the small, recessed section of the building. By extending the canopy next to this section, it aligns perfectly with the building’s structure, and by adding another canopy, the entire space is flawlessly covered.

This solution allows the school to fully utilise the canopy’s potential, providing a weather-protected, sheltered space that enables comfortable outdoor access for students and staff in any season.
