Oxford Spires Academy – Coniston Freestanding Canopy

In October 2025, we supplied and installed an 18m x 10m Stepped Coniston Freestanding Canopy at Oxford Spires Academy in Oxford, Oxfordshire.

Oxford Spires Academy approached Able Canopies with a clear goal, which was to create a sheltered outdoor space that would encourage students and staff to enjoy their lunch breaks outdoors, regardless of the weather.

After a consultation and site assessment, our team recommended the Stepped Coniston Freestanding Canopy, a robust and stylish structure offering extensive weather protection. Covering an impressive 180 square metres, the canopy provides ample space for outdoor dining and socialising while ensuring reliable shelter from rain and UV rays throughout the year.

This installation has transformed the academy’s outdoor environment, giving students a comfortable, all-weather space that promotes wellbeing, encourages outdoor interaction, and makes better use of the school’s external areas.
