My Favourite Portsmouth Installation So Far…

crofton-guiding-centre-bespoke-cycle-shelter-02 smallAn installation that I’m really pleased with is a cycle and mobility shelter we installed at the Crofton Guiding Centre in Stubbington. Although it is not one of our biggest installation there is a special reason why everyone at Able Canopies loves this installation and the story behind it…

Crofton Guiding Centre first contacted us back in 2011 regarding a shelter for a number of bikes and a mobility scooter. There were quite a few challenges to overcome before the centre could commit to the order as they were replying on funding for the shelter, and there was a very old, protected tree with large roots near the desired shelter location which meant they required a planning application for the shelter. Despite the challenges we were very keen to help the 3rd Stubbington Rainbows acquire their desired shelter, we were therefore happy to offer any advice and support needed throughout the process to help their shelter plans become a reality.

Happily, the Rainbow leaders managed to secure funding through the Safer Routes to School Programme, which was great news and planning permission was eventually approved in October 2014 which allowed us to go ahead with the installation.

In January 2015 we completed the installation of a 3m x 2.1m Bespoke Shelter that had a space for a mobility scooter and a number of bicycles.  Although it took a long time, we got there in the end and I’m so pleased we did as the project was very satisfying for the team to work on. We also received some great comments from the Assistant Leader, where she explains how the shelter is really benefitting the community.

We started our project of having a new shelter installed at our Guiding Centre back in 2010. Since our initial enquiry Able Canopies have stuck with us all the way. We have had a few ups and downs along the way (with regards to needing planning, raising funds and having a tree nearby which is protected etc.), and Able Canopies have always been there to answer our enquiries. There were moments when we thought we would never be able to have our shelter. Able Canopies always kept in touch with us to see how we were getting on with the project, and were not once pushy in any way.

We really would like to thank Paul Townsend and his team in particular. They were always at the end of the telephone, were really understanding, motivating us to keep going. We now have our dream shelter which is better looking than we ever thought, is fit for purpose and fits in really well with the surrounding environment. We have had lots of positive comments about it and we are really proud of it.

A Huge Thank-you to Able Canopies for our amazing new shelter for mobility scooters and bicycles, and for being such a wonderful team.”

It’s such a pleasure to receive such great comments from our customers and to know we helped them achieve something they have worked hard to fund and make happen.

If you have had a canopy or shelter installed by one of our teams we would love to hear your comments – please send an email to sales@ablecanopies.co.uk, comments are shared with everyone in the Able Canopies team and help us to continually assess and improve our service to you.
