Castle Wood School

Castle Wood School Case Study

Castle Wood School, West Midlands

Product: Able Shade Sails
Size: Various
Estimated Value: £47,000

Castle Wood School required a number of outside shaded areas for the pupils at their school. A local architecture consultant created a suitable design and colour scheme which met the client’s requirements.

Having completed a full site survey, Able Canopies produced a quotation for a solution that matched the design criteria, which was within budget and of sufficient size to meet the clients’ needs.

The architectural consultant assessed all the options and decided to install Able Shade Sails in a number of areas across the school. The shade system chosen was constructed using galvanized mild steel posts for ultimate corrosion protection and polyethylene fabric. Castle Wood School chose a number of different colours from Able Canopies range of fourteen contemporary colours. The Shade Sails used for the school entrance were an array of sizes in Rich Cream, the internal and open ended courtyard were covered with Shade Sails of a similar size at approximately 25m² with vibrant colours of Lime Fizz and Mellow Haze. The football area was covered using two Shade Sails, one in Bubblegum Pink and the other Indigo Blue, each measuring 30m².

Able Canopies were required to construct the installation during the school holidays. In this time they had to get the order manufactured and delivered to the site, during which time all relevant health & safety issues needed to be considered along with planning approval.

An extra challenge Able Canopies faced was damage to one of the posts caused by a vehicle during installation. Able Canopies were able to replace this almost immediately so as not to delay the completetion date or cause disruption to the client. Castle Wood School were very pleased with the work carried out by Able Canopies.
