Balcombe Church of England Primary School – Coniston Freestanding Canopy

In October 2026, we supplied and installed a 6m x 5m Coniston Freestanding Canopy at Balcombe Church of England Primary School in Balcombe, West Sussex.

Balcombe Church of England Primary School returned to Able Canopies® with plans to make even more of its outdoor grounds. The school wanted a permanent sheltered area that would give pupils and staff greater flexibility to take lessons, play and social activities outside, with less disruption from changing weather conditions.

After assessing the site and the school’s requirements, we supplied and installed a Coniston Freestanding Canopy. This self-supporting system provides shelter without relying on a wall fixing, offering flexibility in its positioning.

The completed installation gives Balcombe Church of England Primary School a versatile covered space that supports its ambitions for outdoor learning and play. By bringing shelter to a previously exposed area, the new school canopy helps staff plan a wider range of outdoor activities and makes the grounds more useful throughout the school year.
