Suffolk County Council contacted Able Canopies on behalf of Ravenswood Primary School and requested a full site survey. They explained to us that Ravenswood Primary School were looking for a canopy to be installed at the front of the school, they were not sure exactly of the canopy type yet they liked the idea of shade sails and they wanted something different that would stand out.
Able Canopies were happy to assist and booked a date for one of their DBS (previously CRB) checked surveyors to survey the area and provide advice for the type of canopy that would be most suited to their requirements. At the survey the options were discussed and the school asked if they could design their own canopy and send the pictures to Able Canopies and see if the canopy they required could be achieved. Able Canopies have designed and installed many bespoke canopies and were more than happy to agree with this.
The drawings were sent to Able Canopies and they were able to produce a Shade Sail with the design that the school requested and a quote was created and sent to the school.
Able Canopies supply and install commercial Shade Sail structures to schools and various organisations across the country. Our Shade Sail systems are able to provide a long lasting and extremely durable structure to protect those underneath from the sun's powerful UV rays. They are designed specifically to be left outdoors 365 days a year and will not need re-tensioning. Ravenswood Primary School required Shade Sails that were waterproof and protected those underneath from the rain. Using their designs, we created a Shade Sail system that included waterproof tensile fabric instead of our woven Shade Sail fabric that is designed for protection against the Sun only. The waterproof tensile fabric offered to Ravenswood Primary School is the fabric that we use for our Tensile Fabric Canopies.
The school was happy with the quote and were keen to place an order – there was a slight delay as there was an issue with the planning permission because the council's plannig department were not satisfied with the designs put forward. A few more designs were submitted and eventually planning permission was granted and the order was placed.
The waterproof Shade Sails were installed and the school & council were happy with the end result.
