Northstowe Community Centre – Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy Installation

In May 2023 we supplied and installed a 13m x 2m Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy at Northstowe Community Centre in Northstowe, Cambridge, creating a clear entrance to the building for the visiting public.

Northstowe Community Centre recently partnered with Portakabin to enhance its facilities and improve the visitor experience. As part of these improvements, the centre required a lean-to canopy solution to provide effective weather protection for visitors waiting to enter the building while also helping to reduce solar gain during warmer months. Having worked closely with Portakabin on numerous projects across the UK, Able Canopies was invited to provide a suitable, high-quality solution that would meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.

Following a detailed consultation, we recommended our Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy, a versatile, commercial-grade system designed to deliver reliable shelter and long-term performance. The Coniston provides excellent protection from rain and harsh weather conditions while also reducing direct sunlight exposure to glazing and entrance areas. By limiting solar gain, the canopy helps to control internal temperatures and create a more comfortable environment inside the building. The completed installation successfully met Northstowe Community Centre’s objectives, delivering a practical, durable, and visually complementary addition to the facility.
