Introducing Suntuf® Stadia: Polycarbonate Roofing
Stadium roofing must balance architectural ambition with practical performance, providing shelter for spectators, allowing natural daylight into the venue and complementing the overall design, while meeting the construction demands of a large-scale project.
Able Canopies® is pleased to introduce Suntuf® Stadia, the latest addition to our polycarbonate glazing range. Developed specifically for sports stadiums and other large-span architectural roofs, it gives architects and contractors a lightweight, durable solution that combines design flexibility with practical installation.
Designed for Projects on a Larger Scale
Suntuf Stadia brings together solid corrugated polycarbonate panels and aluminium roof bars with steel components to create a complete roofing system. Alongside stadiums and arenas, it is suitable for projects including concert halls, logistics centres and covered markets.
The system can be installed directly onto a suitable existing supporting structure. For project teams, this offers an opportunity to simplify the roof assembly and reduce the need for additional components, subject to the building’s design and structural assessment.
Bring Daylight into the Design
Weather protection does not have to mean losing natural light. Suntuf Stadia’s glass-like polycarbonate panels allow daylight through the roof, helping architects shape the appearance and atmosphere of the spaces beneath.
With light transmission ranging from 20% to 90%, depending on the colour selected, the specification can respond to different daylight requirements. The panels are available in 11 colours, comprising five standard options and six non-standard SolarSmart™ colours.
This choice gives designers scope to consider transparency, light diffusion and solar control alongside the wider architectural scheme. The panels also provide up to 99.9% UV protection.
Lightweight Construction, Robust Performance
Large roof projects require careful coordination between the covering, supporting structure and installation programme. Suntuf Stadia combines low weight with impact resistance, flexibility and load-bearing capability, making it a practical option to consider for demanding architectural applications.
The solid polycarbonate sheets are supplied in 3 mm thickness as standard, with options from 1.5 mm to 3 mm. The appropriate specification should be selected around the project’s geometry, support arrangement and loading requirements.
The polycarbonate sheets can achieve a B-s1, d0 fire classification to EN 13501-1, depending on panel thickness. The relevant classification should therefore be confirmed for the selected specification during design development.
Architectural Choice with Installation Support
The aluminium components have an anodised finish as standard, with RAL colour finishes available at an additional cost. This allows the roofing components to be coordinated with the supporting structure and overall design palette.
Able Canopies supplies Suntuf Stadia as a fully installed system, with supply-only options also available on request. Early discussion gives architects and contractors an opportunity to review the proposed roof design, material choices and installation requirements together.
