Local Primary School Has Outdoor Learning Covered

Staff and pupils of Glen Park Primary School in Plymouth are celebrating the installation of their fabulous new canopies and the award of a £400 Samsung laptop computer.

‘The children did a fantastic job helping to choose the canopies’

Designed, manufactured and fitted by school specialists Able Canopies, the school’s new state-of-the-art shade system enables the children to enjoy the outdoors with UV protection from the sun and shelter from the rain.

Home to huge landscaped grounds offering a field, playgrounds, a woodland area and a pond, the 320 pupil primary school has earned a number of local and national awards for its quality learning environment and education, and now with the new canopies, staff are thrilled to offer pupils even more.

Head Teacher Anne Newall is delighted with the installation; “Glen Park is a large primary school with lots of play activities dotted around the grounds but the playgrounds in particular offered limited shade and shelter from inclement weather,” she explains. “Since the installation, the children have been able to play in the fresh air, have their lunch on the picnic tables and enjoy even more outdoor learning.”

The impressive shade sails have also received a great response from parents. Anne praises the pupils for their handiwork; “The children did a fantastic job helping to choose the canopies. They decided on different styles for each playground to liven up the grounds.” Working closely with staff at the school, Able Canopies ensured all needs were met before, during and after the installation.

The purchase of the new canopies coincided with Able Canopies’ spring promotion, awarding Glen Park Primary School with a £400 laptop at the beginning of June. Anne concludes, “The service we received from Able Canopies was excellent, from the initial visit through to the design and installation. The team were unobtrusive, efficient and very pleasant to work with. We are thrilled with our new canopies and the new laptop!”
