As the festive season approaches, many families across Essex face increased financial and emotional pressures. This year, we are proud to announce our support for Home-Start Essex as our chosen Christmas charity, helping to bring comfort, joy, and essential support to those who need it most.

Who Are Home-Start Essex?

Home-Start Essex is an independent local charity dedicated to supporting families who are experiencing the stresses and strains of everyday life. Their trained volunteers work alongside parents, helping them build confidence, develop stronger relationships, and create a more stable home environment for their children.

How We Are Supporting This Year’s Campaign

This Christmas, we are supporting Home-Start Essex by collecting donations of new, unopened, and unwrapped items. Home-Start kindly asks for gifts to be left unwrapped, as they personally allocate and wrap the items for each family to ensure they are appropriate and fairly distributed.

Donations that are welcome are:

  • Toys, books and learning/activity gifts for children of all ages
    (Most families have children aged 0–5, but gifts for older siblings are also appreciated. Military-themed toys are not accepted.)

  • Warm winter clothing such as hats and scarves for both children and adults

  • Festive treats, including tins of biscuits and sweets

  • Toiletries such as bubble bath, shower gels and pamper kits

Collection Date

All donations will be collected in late November, in preparation for the Home-Start Essex Christmas parties in early December, where gifts and support will be delivered directly to families.

For many families, the festive period can be overwhelming. By contributing even a single item, you are helping to relieve pressure, reduce stress, and provide a brighter, more hopeful Christmas for local children and their parents.
