Atkinson Road Primary Academy – Third Canopy Installation

In July 2026, we supplied and installed a 5m x 5m Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy at Atkinson Road Primary Academy in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear.
As part of its ongoing programme of site improvements, Atkinson Road Primary Academy returned to Able Canopies for an additional canopy installation, having previously invested in several of our canopy systems.
The school wanted to provide weather protection above a small decking area outside one of its entrances and exits. Following a free site survey, our team identified an opportunity to maximise the available space by connecting a new Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy to an existing canopy installed on the adjacent entrance. This bespoke design created a larger, continuous covered area, making the most of the available space while providing enhanced shelter for pupils and staff.
By extending the covered outdoor space, the installation has created a versatile all-weather area that can be used throughout the year for outdoor learning, play, and everyday school activities. As well as improving the practicality of the decking area, the canopy integrates seamlessly with the existing installation, providing a smart, long-lasting solution that supports the school’s commitment to making the most of its outdoor environment.
