Orwell Entrance Canopy

Orwell Entrance Canopy

The Orwell entrance canopy has a smooth, slightly curved design that provides effective cover from the weather. The minimal appearance of the canopy enables it to create a feature point of your entrance whilst still allowing it to blend in with your outside aesthetics.

The Orwell has an unlimited length (minimum of 1.4m) which makes it perfect for covering large entrances and creating shade above multiple windows. It is also ideal for creating shelter above outside stairways as it can be supplied with varying heights that match the incline of the stairs.

The frame is constructed fully from T5 grade aluminium that is supplied with a choice of 7 colours as standard. The roof is covered with 4mm solid polycarbonate that has a high impact resistance and is supplied in clear as standard.

As this cost effective entrance canopy is cantilevered and has no canopy posts, it is ideal for covering busy environments such as schools, shops, leisure centres and hospitals.

Design & Specification

Polycarbonate Roof Panels

Covered with solid polycarbonate panels that are 4mm thick and are light in weight. These panels have a high impact resistance, making them ideal for use in well used areas.

Excellent Weather Resistance – The Polycarbonate protects those underneath from harmful UV rays whilst also providing shelter from the rain. The UV coating that is applied during the manufacturing process prevents the panels from discolouring or losing their shine.

High Light Transmittance – The polycarbonate panels offer excellent light transmittance depending on the colour of the polycarbonate chosen. Please see the results in the table below from the test method DIN 5036:

Polycarbonate Colour Light Transmission %
Clear (Supplied as standard) 87%
Bronze 50%
Grey 55%
Green 73%

Please note: We do not have the results for opal or embossed polycarbonate.

Fire Resistance – The standard polycarbonate roof panels (clear) adhere to the UK fire rating BS 476 Part 7 Class 1Y and the European fire standard EN 13501-1 B s1 d0. All other polycarbonate colours that are available (excluding Opal) have passed the European fire standard EN 13501-1 B s2 d0.

Aluminium Frame

The Orwell is constructed from a UNI 6060 T5 grade aluminium frame that is natural resistant to rot and rust and is also treated with pure thermosetting polyester powder.

Integral Guttering

Integral aluminium guttering is supplied as standard. Water is collected in the guttering and then dispersed through drip spouts located at the front sides of the canopy.

Loading Capabilities

When subjected to tests of positive and negative loads, uniformly distributed up to 170daN/m² and there was no recorded signs of any permanent damages or breakage. Please note these results are only valid for projections of 1.5m or less.
